Behind the Scenes - What It’s Like to Work with Me
First, a Bit About the Shed (Metaphorically Speaking)
The Mix Shed isn’t just a room with gear. It’s a mindset. A space where artists feel seen, supported, and empowered to land their sound. I’ve built this space - physically and creatively - to be a place where clarity meets care, and where your music gets the attention it deserves.
Whether we’re mixing a punchy single, mastering a full-bodied EP, or shaping a track from the ground up, the process is always collaborative, intentional, and tailored to you.
Step 1: We Talk
Before any faders move, we talk. About your vision, your references, your goals, and your gut feelings. I want to know what the track means to you. What you’re proud of. What’s still bugging you. This isn’t a formality - it’s the foundation.
You don’t need to speak in technical terms. You don’t need to impress me with plugin names. You just need to be honest. I’ll translate your instincts into action.
Step 2: I Listen (A Lot)
I don’t just hit play and start tweaking. I listen deeply. To the rough mix. To your notes. To the emotional arc. I’m listening for what’s already working - and what’s waiting to shine.
Sometimes that means subtle EQ moves. Sometimes it means rethinking the vocal space. Sometimes it means texting you a wild idea at 8am because I heard something in the bridge that could be magic.
Step 3: We Build (Together)
Mixing and mastering aren’t just technical processes—they’re creative ones. I’ll send you mix drafts with clear notes, invite your feedback, and refine until it feels right. Not just “loud enough” or “clean enough”—but true to you.
If I’m producing, we’ll go even deeper. Arrangement tweaks. Lyric shaping. Sonic metaphors. I’m not here to impose a sound—I’m here to help you land yours.
What It Feels Like
Clients often tell me they feel:
Heard – because I ask the right questions and actually listen.
Relieved – because the chaos of DIY mixing is replaced with clarity.
Proud – because the final result sounds like them, only better.
And honestly? That’s the best part of this job. Helping artists feel proud of what they’ve made.
Thinking About Reaching Out?
If you’re wondering what it would be like to work together, this is it. No ego. No jargon. Just a shed, a shared vision, and a whole lot of care.
